Rad Reading-December

This month I read a book called The One by Kiera Cass. This book is the third book in the series The Selection where 35 girls are randomly selected to compete to marry the king. In the third book, six girls, called the elites remain. The main character America, never wanted to compete in this competition, so never expected to make it this far. As attacks outside the palace get more often and harmful, the tension between the girls rise.

I liked this book because there is lots of suspense and plot twists that keep you interested in the book. There is lots of tension between characters that keep you wondering if they are friends or not. The plot twist at the end was unexpected and interesting.

My favorite character is the main character, America Singer. I like her because she is independent, respectful, and brave. She treats everyone with respect, even people who are below her in their social class. She overcame so many challenges without giving up, like being in a low caste. She has many character traits but one is kindness. One quote that proves this is, “Everyones just worried. You’re doing fine.” This quote proves that she is kind because even though at the time she was in pain, she was still comforting and kind.

My favorite quote from the book is “Mistakes mean it’s real.” This quote is meaningful to me because it shows that it is okay to make mistakes. It tells us that mistakes happen and that they will always happen you just need to try again. It proves that mistakes are human and that  mistakes happen to everybody.
